The Generalate House of Visitation congregation is situated in S.H. mount, Kottayam. Bishop Thomas Tharayil realized the necessity of a Generalate and instituted at S. H. Mount on October 7th, the feast day of Mary the Queen of Rosary as the head quartersof Visitation Congregation. At the first Generalate house was served as both novitate and the administrative head of the congregation. Later the need for a seperate house for the novices was felt and hence a building near to the Generalate house was erected when Rev. Sr. Savio was the General Superior of the Congregation.The Novitiate was Blessed on September 8, 1983 and was christained 'SHALOM' and is situated adjacent to the Generalate.

The novitiate house was blessed in 1983 with the name SHALOM. The novices were shifted to Shalom and there they were formed under the novice mistress.
The Generalate house remains as the main house and the central force for the spiritual upliftment of the members of the congregation. The general team on which the central administration of the congregation is vested, function from the generalate.
